Burgers, soft serve and other quick-cook items will be on the menu. “We’re excited,” Sam Vlahos told the Hinsdale Village Board on Tuesday. “The buzz is going, which is good, and people are excited. That’s the best thing about it.” The village board approved an exterior appearance plan...

One representative from each class also had an opportunity to dunk Principal Brandon Todd with a bucket of water. See more photos on our Facebook...

  • Newly minted officer dives into military duty

    Ken Knutson | Jun 10, 2026

Kayla Teuscher was an admittedly shy teen when she left Hinsdale to enter the United States Military Academy at West Point nearly four years ago. By the fall of her junior year, her transformation into a confident leader had undoubtedly advanced. "I was the brigade operations sergeant major," Teuscher said. "I was in charge of basically the execution of all operations at West Point that cadets did. So like (Army) football games, drills, formations - pretty much anything we...

And while the name of that longstanding medical institution has changed, both the care and the Ogden Avenue property remain dedicated to the treatment of orthopaedic needs. • Letter - Richards responds to writer's accusation of hatred

    Jun 10, 2026

In last week’s Hinsdalean, Mr. Wance incorrectly accused me of hating the Fuller family. I have no room in my broken heart for hatred of the Fullers. In fact, when one of them said to me, “You must hate me,” I was surprised, and I assured her that I did not, and gave her a hug. As we have alleged in our wrongful death lawsuit, it is our belief that the actions and omissions of certain members of the Fuller family, including the choices they made, caused the death of an amazing child. Hate is different than holding...

  • Letter - Longtime resident bids farewell to the village

    Jun 10, 2026

After 26 years of living in Hinsdale, my wife, Lisa, and I are making a significant move to New Mexico. I wanted to take this opportunity to share what I’ll miss most about Hinsdale: 1. The constant drone of high decibel leaf blowers and lawn mowers — from April through November, Tuesday through Saturdays, and negotiating through the obstacle course of landscaping trucks and trailers on EVERY residential street. Perhaps an ordinance to ban gas-powered leaf blowers (commercial and personal) should be contemplated? (Other...

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, to focus attention on the most common form of dementia as well as promote healthy living to keep your cognitive functioning on track. Early detection offers significant benefits for individuals and their families, as do preemptive steps to lower one’s risk of developing dementia....

  • Endless days of summer will be over all too soon

    Pamela Lannom | Jun 10, 2026

The start of summer always reminds me of the first few days of vacation, when you seem to have an endless number of days to enjoy your destination. And then, all of the sudden, you have hardly any time left and days zip by at the speed of light. For years I’ve taken some extra time off in the summer, something I started doing when Ainsley was a toddler and Dan was traveling every other week for work. Even though she no longer wants to go to Blackberry Farm or a water park...

  • Pausing to see, listen to God

    Peter Celauro | Jun 10, 2026

Two weeks ago, I was knee-deep in a Minnesota stream with God. Well, God wasn't knee-deep in the stream, per se. But He was in the stream, with its foamy water cascading over rocks. He was in the expansive blue sky that stretched stunningly from horizon to horizon. He was in the tree-lined hilltops that towered overhead, their lush foliage giving way here and there to dramatic faces of sheer limestone. I saw God in the massive shadows streaking across the water as birds of...

  • Pet pic of the week

    Jun 10, 2026

I'm Piper and I can't wait to find my perfect people! I'm an incredibly sweet lady who loves just about every person that I meet, and I'm even open to a dog brother or sister. I really do love my people, and I hope that my future family will help guide me through the world. I might look big and strong, but sometimes unfamiliar things outside can make me a little apprehensive. I just need someone to help me build my confidence and remind me that it's not so scary out there,...

  • Combine lets players showcase skills

    Pamela Lannom | Jun 10, 2026

Attending a university football camp can cost hundreds of dollars, especially when travel and other expenses are added in. So two suburban Chicago football coaches decided to hold football showcases at their own schools and invite college coaches to attend. "We did that back-to-back years," said Ryan Crissy, head football coach at Glenbard South, who organized the camps with Sean Drendel, head coach at Naperville North. "What we realized doing that is we're providing a free...
